Faculty Present Cutting Edge Research at ICHRIE Conference in Florida

Dean Lea Dopson and six faculty members flew to Orlando, FL, this summer to represent the college and present their scholarly research at the 2015 International Council on Hotel, Restaurant, and Institutional Education (ICHRIE) conference.

Participation at the international conference gave faculty the opportunity to observe, learn, and share best practices from other hospitality and tourism educators.

“We were able to showcase our college’s work at the most important and biggest hospitality conference in the world,” says Assistant Professor Linchi Kwok, who presented two papers at the event. “Our students benefit when we apply what we learn at the conference to our classrooms at The Collins College.”

Lecturer Barbara Jean Bruin attended the annual event to immerse herself with other educators and learn.

“It’s extremely important to hear cutting edge research, to hear form industry professionals, to network with other educators and partners, to present papers, to join focus groups and workshops as we collaborate with others who have our same issues and passions,” says Bruin.
