The Collins College of Hospitality Management Named Cal Poly Pomona's 2017 Outstanding Advising Program

Cal Poly Pomona honored the 2016-2017 outstanding advisors for their dedication to student success at the annual awards reception on May 4 in the Bronco Student Center. The awards recognized exceptional faculty and staff advisors, as well as one outstanding advising program.

The Collins College of Hospitality Management was recognized as Cal Poly Pomona's 2016-2017 Outstanding Advising Program. It was the first time this recognition was made by the university.

The Collins College's talented advising team includes Career Services Coordinator Ann Lara, Student Services Coordinator Carolina Sanchez, and Student Advising Coordinator James Yokoyama.

Assistant Professor Michelle Yoo was recognized as The Collins College of Hospitality Management's Outstanding Advisor of the Year. This is a well-deserved honor for Yoo who is in her second year of teaching at The Collins College.

"It says a lot about her positive connections with our students," says Associate Dean Michael Godfrey.

The selection committee used the nominations and comments provided by students, staff, and faculty, as well as their comparison of all nominees with the University’s criteria, to select Yoo for this honor.
